Thereβs nothing quite like the Bahamas β where the water is actually as blue as the travel brochures, the vibe is chill, and the adventures are straight out of a dream. But Letβs be honest β the entire reason I planned this trip to the Bahamas was to swim with the famous pigs π·. (Yes, really. But remarkably that wasn’t even my favorite part of the trip) Whether youβre planning a romantic getaway, a girlsβ trip, or your next beach escape, hereβs a peek inside my unforgettable trip to paradise from the luxury of Baha Mar in Nassau to the barefoot paradise of Staniel Cay.
We kicked things off in style at Baha Mar, a beachfront resort in Nassau that feels like a tropical playground. There are too many pools to count, a full-blown water park, and so many food and drink options your head will spin (and so might your wallet πΈ). But more on that in another post β it deserves its own spotlight and I will give you my insider tips.
π΄ Stay in Style at Baha Mar

π Travel Tip: Pre-book your taxi from the airport to Baha Mar and back β especially during busy seasons when cabs can be a bit chaotic.

π§Money-Saving Tip: Before checking in, make a pit stop at a local grocery store or liquor shop to stock up on snacks, water, and drinks for your room. Itβs a small move that saves you a lot when hotel drinks run $18+ a pop.

From Nassau, we hopped on a Flamingo Air flight to Staniel Cay β itβs a quick, scenic ride on a tiny plane (prepare for an unforgettable view of the Exumas from above!). The moment we stepped onto that tiny airstrip, I knew we were in for a real island adventure. Youβll land on a small airstrip where chickens might greet you β island life, baby.
Important: When returning to Nassau to fly back to the U.S., donβt forget to book a taxi ahead of time to get from the small domestic airport back to the international terminal. They are not walking distance apart, and the local taxis donβt always hang around waiting.
After our time in Nassau, we flew to Staniel Cay for 3 nights β and honestly, I wish I had booked more time here and fewer nights at Baha Mar. This little island stole my heart in the best way. Itβs peaceful, naturally stunning, and full of charm that no resort can compete with.
Everything on the island feels slower (in a good way), and thereβs so much to explore. Whether itβs the friendly locals, crystal-clear beaches, or getting to know the marina cats at the Yacht Club, itβs the kind of place that invites you to fully unplug.
π Must-Do: Rent a Golf Cart
This is the easiest (and most fun) way to explore Staniel Cay. Youβll need it to get from your accommodation to the docks, restaurants, and the tiny grocery store β and letβs be honest, zipping around on a golf cart just feels like vacation.
We booked a full-day boat tour, and itβs one Iβll never forget. Hereβs everything we did in just one adventure-packed day:

At Staniel Cay Yacht Club, we found the best fresh conch fritters and lobster β and made some furry friends (hello, marina cats πΎ). The vibe is casual, and sunsets here are chefβs kiss. My favorite part was walking around the marina at Sunset looking at all the boats and seeing the nurse sharks swimming below.
From the vibrant energy of Baha Mar to the untamed beauty of Staniel Cay, this trip was pure Bahamian bliss. Swimming pigs may have sparked the idea, but what I found was so much more β salty adventures, slow mornings, and memories Iβll be reliving forever.
If youβve been dreaming of the Bahamas β book the flight.
Your tropical escape (and your bikini) are waiting. π
